Inaugural Ball

We went to an inaugural ball this past weekend. Eddie and I spent the evening dancing the night away, while Elijah got to spend the night at his friend's house. It was a really nice event!

There was a live Japanese jazz band. They were REALLY good....I am not exaggerating! Eddie said when he closed his eyes he thought it was actually Ray Charles singing - yes, the little Japanese lead singer had sunglasses on the whole time - but he wasn't blind because he walked around without any assistance.

There was also a female saxophonist that would have given Kenny G a run for his money!

Eddie surprised me and bought the dress for me while he was TDY.......right color, size and everything!

So here is a small 'joy' of living overseas. For years I have made a dinner menu and then made a grocery list according to the ingredients I use. I know it's a bit OCD! Anyway, I went to the commissary (the only American-like grocery store here) and needed 5 lbs. of ground turkey.

Side note: I don't eat ground beef

I noticed there was none.....hmmmm that's strange I thought - it has always been in the same spot! I asked the commissary dude (A.K.A. meat manager) when they will have some more ground turkey. "Hmmm," he said, "we cancelled the whole ground turkey order - I don't know when it will be in!"
Huh? But I made my 2 week menu out and I need five 1 lb. packages of ground turkey?! After going to the commissary for 4 days in a row...... we decided to ground our own chicken breast up. YUMMY and SUPER low fat!

Eddie volunteered to use the hand grinder to grind the chicken breast for the family. What a great guy!! Yes, we actually have an old-fashioned meat grinder! Thanks Judy S.!

We had 5 lbs. of FRESHLY ground chicken --- here we come 'tacos, meatloaf, and chili'!! Now if I was still in America I would have went to another store i.e. Safeway, Piggly Wiggly (go South!!), Winn Dixie, Albertson's, or Basha's. No such luck here! Hey, it's a small sacrifice!

Eddie and Elijah spent some time together constructing Micro Nascar Racecars this weekend. Check out some pics!

They really are 'micro'-like cars - about an inch and a half in length with wheels and axles.

Happy 7th Birthday Elijah!!!

Today was Elijah's birthday! Last night he had a sleepover, the boys left about noon and Elijah decided that he would go to another friend's house to play at 12:30........he FINALLY came home at 7:30 pm. We went by and made sure he was okay and talked to the parent's....they said they liked when Elijah was over there because he keeps their daughter busy.

Sorry he missed all your phone calls - we didn't get to see him on his birthday either....he is growing so fast and just like a teenager..... he would rather be with friends then his boring, old parents!

Enjoy the pics:

Transformable robots - he got many different types of these

YES! A classic - he will be so ready for coordinate graphing in 5th grade!

Eddie and Elijah playing with the new toys

Hmmmm "Whose toy was it?"

Happy birthday to my dear big boy! He has grown so much in 1 year! His unique personality is really coming out!

He:
- loves to read (like Eddie)
- LOOOOOVES music (like Eddie)
- is slow to get up in the morning (like Eddie)
- makes beats with his mouth, hands, and feet CONSTANTLY (yep, like Eddie)
- is very caring towards other's feelings (you know what I mean)

He is such a blessing and we love the laughter he brings to us everyday!

Fun in the snow

Here are some pics of us playing around in the 48.9 inches of snow in 5 days! Elijah lasted for 15 minutes (literally) then he wanted to go inside. Hey when your trucks are both 4-wheel drive and stuck in a parking spot because the snow plows piled up snow behind it to clear the roads.........what else do you do besides get bundled up and go play in the snow?
Elijah making his snow angel................
Our Lil' Snow Angel!
Finally made it up the snowy hill...getting ready to slide down....
Elijah...the force of the board over-powered our lil' guy :)
..... saving the best for last! Yep, that's Eddie ...pretty much didn't get passed the first 10 feet without the board coming from underneath him, while Elijah looks on from on top of the hill.

Happy Bday Love

Dec 30th was my 31st bday. I wanted to say "THANK YOU" so much for all the phone call, Facebook messages, phone calls and cards! I felt so loved. Let me just show off for a minute and tell you what Eddie got me:)

1. The Pea Coat that I have been wanting for 2 years.

2. He wrote, produced and recorded a song just for me!! It was titled "I figured out" - It was great - I rock it in my car all day long. If I can figure it out I'll upload it to the page......cross your fingers~
