Elijah has to keep a pair of gym shoes at school to use when he has P.E. (it helps keep the snow, rain, snow melt salt and dirt off the gym floor).
Since he is a growing 8 year old we replace his shoes 2 - 3 times a year because he outgrows them.
The other day the P.E. teacher told me that Elijah's shoes fell apart - in the middle of his class! HOW EMBARRASSING! I just replaced his p.e. shoes mid-November! She told me that she taped it up for him......I was pretty much mortified....why is it that my son is the one that has a pair of shoes fall apart in the middle of class and the shoe has to be taped back together?
This is the shoe 'all fixed up'!
As I pulled back the tape...the light up device popped out.......really? How do you tear up the sole of a shoe when you only have P.E. for 40 minutes a day (NOT 5 days a week) - and you never wear them outside?
Lessons learned:
1. Eddie said Elijah can tear up ANY type of shoe - just give him enough time.....he told me that we need to start looking for steel-toe shoes for him.
2. Light up shoes will no longer be worn by Elijah --- just not tough enough!
3. Elijah was NOT embarrassed at all.....he did not care that he had 2 WIDE strips of electrical tape holding the sole of his shoe together - all he cared about was playing during P.E.!
